York Minster is one of the largest cathedrals in Northern Europe. An Anglo-Catholic community was established to serve the people from the locality with religious services and masses. The cathedral building has strong roots in history, which date back to the 10th century. It has records of being a place of worship and prayers for centuries. York Minster has attracted people from all around the world for more than 1000 years. The cathedral started serving as a chapel, but as the years ran and the population grew rapidly, it needed expansion. In 1080, it was rebuilt in Norman style, when the cathedral was still serving as a chapel. Their cathedral council is an advisory body whose members have wide-ranging local and regional interests and bring immense knowledge from both within and outside the Church of England. York Minster features magnificent architectural masterpieces such as stained glass, stonework and elaborate tombs.
