Stewart Cross, the current owner and Landlord, purchased The Platform Tavern in June 1997, transforming it from a run-down, quiet maritime themed establishment that had seen better days to the thriving, ambient Traditional English Pub it is today. The decor now has an ethnic feel to it, with masks, relics, and pictures adorning the walls, many of which Stewart has collected during his travels abroad to make this pub truly homely and unique. The Platform has developed a reputation for live music over the years, bringing some of the best acts from faraway lands to local heroes to perform an array of original music, with the majority being Blues & Roots acts. It's always free to enter, and it's always of the highest caliber. The food is of restaurant quality, with local produce taking precedence. The menu includes pub classics as well as more exotic fare. The Platform is known for its Desperate Dan-style short-crust pies, fresh fish, and Sunday lunches.
