Paul Zehr, a professor of neurology, martial art teacher, and author of the book "Becoming Batman," among other things, provides an introduction to why we should exercise. The primary emphasis of my book "Becoming Batman: The Possibility of a Superhero" is how Batman and training go hand in hand. Superheroes, particularly those who are fully “human” like Batman, Iron Man, and Captain America, need training and conditioning in order to be the best they can be. And to stay healthy while saving imaginary worlds from villains. Even though most of us don't rescue others from evil, we all have a basic understanding of what is and isn't healthy. There are many public health messages on the risks of smoking, the necessity of eating a healthy, balanced diet, the need to limit alcohol use, and the value of regular physical exercise.
