Thornton Abbey is the most comprehensive and among the finest in England. This tourist attraction in North Lincolnshire is the best way to spend a day. The founding 12th-century abbey building was Romanesque in style. The later 13th/14th century abbey was constructed in an Early Gothic style. There are examples of monastic buildings and an exhibition about the history of the monastery. It provides an excellent opportunity to experience history firsthand, and the land is a sanctuary for wildlife. It offers Members free admission.
