Thurnham Castle has area seems to have been used since Roman times as a watchtower for fortification purposes. The fortress was part of the de Say family and then the de Thurnhams in the 12th century. A fabulous site to visit with the family, a beautiful tour with absolutely stunning views of the Kent countryside. It affords free entry.
