Lincoln Guildhall has a town hall of the 16th century that forms an archway across the main high street. The guildhall has been used since its completion in 1520, occupying the second floor of the stonebow, and still holds meetings of the full council and activities of the city council. It houses various royal artifacts, including Richard ii's sword, office chains of a mayor, and the posy ring of the mayor.
