The Calvella School of Performing Arts is located in Anlaby, on the outskirts of west Hull, at the end of Pryme Street.It's a brand new studio with mirrors, barres, central heating, disco lights, a double sprung floor, and excellent changing facilities.Our students can also park for free.Our expertise is our ability to train students in a variety of dance disciplines, regardless of their age, ability, or experience.Our teachers' assets are their passion, knowledge, and experience, which they pass on to our students in a creative and friendly manner.We now have a small dancewear shop located in the changing room where ALL Calvella regulation uniform can be purchased.IDTA Examinations are held at our studio every year in May and are open to all students.The school's main goal is enjoyment, and I can assure you that whether you choose to enter examinations or not, your child will progress at the same rate. Every July, the school puts on a Summer Show and I.D.T.A. Awards Presentation Evening.Moana is the theme of this year's Summer Show Finale.During the summer holidays, we provide a week of dance musical theatre workshop, where the children will perform a small show to friends and parents at the end of the week.The 2019 Summer School was Mary Poppins, and all of the students performed amazingly well and produced a very high quality show considering they only had four days to prepare.Congratulations to everyone. The 2020 week of dance will begin on August 24th and end on August 31st.Non-Calvella students are welcome to participate in the dance week as well.If you'd like to reserve a seat for 2020, please contact Miss Caroline at 07818 085919. Every year at Christmas, we put on our annual Pantomime.The pantomime for this year was Sleeping Beauty, which was performed on Saturday, January 4th, at the newly renovated Hull New Theatre.We were all ecstatic to be performing at such a magnificent venue.We have rebooked the Hull New Theatre for our next pantomime on Saturday 9th January 2021.Stage costumes are required for these shows, but rest assured that we keep the cost to a bare minimum by utilizing the Studio's large wardrobe and excellent costume hiring facilities whenever possible.The studio is also very popular for Dance Parties.Our assistant teacher organizes these parties, relieving the parents of some of the stress by organizing games and concluding with a dance routine that everyone can enjoy while the parents watch.
