St Mary's Cathedral is one of the oldest historical churches in Edinburgh. The church was established in the late 19th century to serve the locals and Irish immigrants in the community. The cathedral was designed in a Gothic style by Sir George Gilbert Scott. It is a listed building, and it has jaw-dropping interiors, which many people have found to be the main attraction of the cathedral. St Mary’s Cathedral faced many renovations and expansion over the years as the local population regularly outnumbered it. The cathedral doors always stay open so that anyone can visit and pray. It maintains a tradition of choral services, where students from the choir school would gather and perform music. St Mary's Cathedral has a central bell tower in which ten original bells are hung for ringing during events and services
