The Golden Cross is Coventry's oldest pub (and one of the Midlands' oldest).Built in 1583 during Queen Elizabeth I's reign and converted to a public house in 1661 during Charles II's reign (the year of his coronation). The Golden Cross has many traditional Tudor features, such as jettied upper floors with exposed beams and a Dragon Beam that allows the jettied floors to go around corners. The Golden Cross is worth a visit just for these historical features.
