St George's Church was built in 1897 to serve Stockport's growing area, and it has adopted the national Church of England's robust procedures and guidelines. The architect of St George's was Hubert Austin, of Paley, Austin and Paley of Lancaster and was built of Runcorn sandstone in the Gothic Revival style. They seek to learn about God, know Christ and make Him known in the world. They aim to help people experience more of the fullness of life, which is Jesus' gift and has equipped to function effectively in every area of life. The choir stalls can seat 70 singers at St George's Church.
