Crichton Memorial Church is one of the most excellent examples of church architecture. The church was built from Locharbriggs using local red sandstone for the outside and Thornhill pink sandstone from the inside. The floor features white Sicilian marble and spectacular geomantic designs of red, green, and black Connemara marble. The first service in the church took place with a dedication service on Sunday, October 15, 1897, where Elizabeth Crichton's prayer of dedication read to the congregation.
