The Albion is a unique location.Since its opening in the 1760s, the 17th Century Coach House has been one of Clifton's most popular dining and drinking establishments, and it has remained so for over 250 years.Thomas Boyce bought land on Clifton Hill and spent £8000 on lodging for the wealthy visitors who came to the spa for the season.Built in the late 1760s to house the visitors' coach and horses. The Albion was most likely named after The Albion, a 200-ton ship built in the Bristol shipyards at the time, owned by Davis and Protheroe and launched in 1778.
