Spotlight Stage School opened its doors in 1993 with forty students on the first day!The number of students has more than doubled, and we now have 100 students.On weekdays and Saturdays, we offer Ballet, Tap, Modern, and Jazz classes.These classes help each child develop co-ordination, confidence, strength, and flexibility while also providing an excellent foundation in all dance disciplines.Over the last five years, technical dance standards have risen dramatically, with 100% pass rates in Ballet, Tap, and Modern Examinations with the – and all pupils receiving High Merits and Distinctions.With the ISTD, dance examination work is taught up to intermediate level in Modern, Tap, and Ballet.The ISTD is one of the world's most prestigious Exam Boards, ensuring that dancers receive the best possible training.For anyone going to university, Grade 6 and Intermediate Examinations are worth a lot of UCAS points. We like to give our students performance opportunities so they can gain experience and confidence.Some of our students have auditioned for the English Youth Ballet and have performed with them in Preston, Nottingham, and Halifax.We've also provided senior dancers for the Magic Circle's 'Hey Presto' magic show at the Bingley Arts Centre.Some of our younger students appeared as extras in the black lace music video in 1995.With a company called Grande Productions, we've performed at Sadler's Well Theatre and Her Majesty's Theatre in London.We've also appeared in five Yorkshire Hits shows at the Blackpool Opera House, which has Europe's largest stage.Some of our senior students have gone on to work for professional companies such as Haven Holiday Parks, P&O Cruises, and Qdos Entertainment, where they have trained, taught, and performed.Talia Murphy and Beth Purchon, most recently, were accepted into Preston Dance College and began full-time training in September 2014.We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors!
