The Terrace Walk Wine Vaults were originally run by a local wine merchant and were built between 1748 and 1750.From 1906 to 1950, the premises were an Eldridge Pope public house, and the building was Grade II* listed in 1950.The Huntsman was purchased by London family brewer Fuller, Smith & Turner in November 2012 and, after extensive renovations, now offers fine dining in the Elder Rooms upstairs. The rooms are named after the building's architect, John Wood The Elder, who is responsible for many of Bath's most beautiful streets and structures.
