The history of Wentworth Castle Gardens begins with a bitter family rivalry. You can discover the story of Thomas Wentworth and the dispute that inspired him to create this landscape. The church ground displays layers of garden design characteristic of different periods and fashions, including an early 18th century Union Jack garden, a Victorian flower garden and 20th-century collections of rhododendrons, camellias, and magnolias. The church has 500 acres of parkland, including a deer park and woodland trails, with atmospheric views and majestic follies, such as the splendid Stainborough Castle. It has more than 26 listed buildings and monuments, each of them with a different story to tell.
